Shoji Hamada Blog #3

This is a Pottery made made by Shoji Hamada. Shōji Hamada was a Japanese potter. He was a significant influence on studio pottery of the twentieth century, and was also a major figure of the mingei folk-art movement that was establishing the town of Mashiko as a world-renowned pottery century. In 1955 he was designated a "Living National Treasure". This Pottery is a shorter version of a press-molded vase that was produced for many years in Hamadsa's studio. This was made in a two part mold and jointed along the corners. The two sections of the vase that share the rich persimmon color of Hamada's Kaki iron glaze. I had picked this Pottery by Shoji Hamada because it is very impressive and amazing how beautiful it is. The glaze looks amazing and it looks like it had taken a long time to do.
