Shoji Hamada Blog #3

Hey everyone! I hope the start of your week is going well. This Wednesday we are going to be talking about Shoji Hamada. Hamada was born in Japan and studied ceramics at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He spent three years with Bernard Leach in St. Ives then went back to Japan where he eventually established a workshop. At the workshop he built his own pottery and committed himself to using only materials that were locally sourced. The vase attached below is one of Hamada's works. I chose this vase because I like how it looks like the woods and tree branches. Also, I like how the color goes from light to dark brown.
