Slump Pottery

The pottery piece I picked is made using the slump technique. The piece reminds me of a flower. You can see the petals, which look very life-like. The glaze really makes the piece I think. I could not find the artist of this piece, but it is for sale for only $50. I think it would be cool to try and create a piece like this, even though it looks a little bit on the advanced side.

I found this bowl to be very unique since it was hard to tell if it was slump or hump. I would like to think it was slump due to the amazing incisions of the flowers. The design is very intricate and original. I really like how the inside is a different color than the outside.

The slump technique in pottery is most often used with bowls, cups, plates, etc. Slumps are ceramics in concave form which means they cave in. I picked this piece because it slumps at the bottom. It looks like it was made inside a bowl and then taken out. This is similar to what I would like to do for my slump/hump project. Rather than making just a bowl, making something different that still has a slump to it.

Slump Pottery

Hello everyone, we will be talking about slump pottery today. The slump technique is done using molds that are concave ceramic forms. Bowls, plates, and platters can be made using this technique because it works best with shallow forms. I chose the example below because I love the rainbow colors. I'm hoping to create this look on our slump project that is coming up soon. Also, I like the shape of the bowl and would use this piece to eat out of.

This image is an example of the technique of slump. I really enjoy the simplicity of this bowl but also how unique it is with the carved out section. The glaze is simple but also makes a statement. I would like to make something similar when we work on this project!

Slump/ Hump Example

I choose this example of using the hump technique in pottery. I like the simplicity of the form and design as well as the colors used. What intrigues me most about the bowl is how the colors blend with each other and the warm feeling it gives off. The artwork of the piece had a interesting dimension to it and every aspect of the pot compliments and flows with each other well.
